Did you know that Vancouver, WA was founded 61 years BEFORE Vancouver, BC? Those hoser canucks are just copycats. There may be a lot you don’t know about our fair city and since most of it is heckin’ boring I am only going to talk about stuff that is interesting. Gonna do you all a knowledge right now.

Fun Facts about the ‘couve!

  • A law on the books meant to reduce crime mandates that a motorist with criminal intentions must stop at city limits to call the chief of police before he enters the city.
  • It is illegal to harass Bigfoot in Vancouver, WA.
  • It is illegal to walk around Vancouver with a cold. I don’t know what the punishment is but it should be execution.
  • Here is a good one: It is illegal to pretend that your parents are rich in Vancouver.
  • The oldest apple tree in the Northwest is in Vancouver. Reputed to be the “great grandfather” of the apple industry. It has its own festival in the fall.
  • It is illegal in Vancouver to catch fish by throwing rocks at them. It’s also very difficult and bruises the meat.
  • The oldest public square in the west is our very own Esther Short Park.
  • Pearson Field is one of if not the oldest continuously operating airfield in the US. It has a cool museum.
  • Clark County use to be considered the prune capitol of the world! It was a real movement!
  • Vancouver gets less rain per year (42 inches) than Houston (48 inches), Nashville (60 inches), Memphis (52 inches), and Miami (58 inches), just to name a few. Sure doesn't feel like it
  • OK That last one was kind of depressing. Really?? Less rain than Houston!?!? Geez! I'm done here.
